HD Kumaraswamy Addresses JDS-BJP Alliance and Political Dynamics

Former Karnataka Chief Minister and JDS-BJP candidate HD Kumaraswamy recently addressed speculations regarding the merger of Janata Dal-Secular (JDS) with the BJP. In an exclusive interview with ANI, Kumaraswamy emphasized that there is no question of JDS merging with any other party, including the BJP. He highlighted the intention to work together if treated well by the BJP, dismissing notions of absorption.

Kumaraswamy also addressed past political rifts, stating that despite challenges, JDS remains resilient against opposition attempts to undermine it. Reflecting on historical alliances, he recounted the formation of a government with the BJP in 2006, showcasing the party’s adaptability and strategic decisions.

Regarding the personal connection between PM Modi and JDS patriarch HD Deve Gowda, Kumaraswamy shared insights into their interactions, highlighting instances where PM Modi sought Deve Gowda’s advice and respected his political journey. He elaborated on past political alignments and emphasized the consistent alignment of JDS with secular forces.

Responding to criticism from the Congress regarding the JDS-BJP alliance, Kumaraswamy questioned the interpretation of secularism, pointing out instances where other parties made strategic decisions without being labeled as secular or communal. He criticized Congress’s use of caste dynamics for political gains and defended JDS’s decisions based on the party’s interests.
